The Ranger’s Apprentice: The Sorcerer of the North (The Ranger's Apprentice Series 5)

The Ranger’s Apprentice: The Sorcerer of the North
By John Flanagan
Well...this skips a lot since the last time we saw Will and Halt!!! Will was now a full-time ranger!!! He completed the training!!! Yeah!!! (Of course he would! He was the best ranger of all time...umm...as good as Halt!) now we're starting the fifth book! Ready for his first mission and his first fief? Look down below!
Time has passed since the apprentice and his master, Will and Halt, led the Araluens to victory against invaders, and Will is now a full-fledged Ranger with his own fief to look after. The fief seems sleepy -- boring, even -- until the Skandians show up and Will has to deal with the threat. Shortly thereafter, Will goes on a secret mission. Joined by his friend Alyss, Will is thrown headfirst into an extraordinary adventure propelled by fears of sorcery, and must determine who is trustworthy to the king and who is trying to take his throne.  Will and Alyss must battle growing hysteria, traitors, and most of all, time. The king is fading, but when Alyss is taken hostage, Will is forced to make a desperate choice between loyalty to his mission and loyalty to his friend.
Ahh!!! I'm so anticipate introducing this book with you! And why? Because I can know fully talk about Alyss!!! One of my favorite characters in the book!!! However, we mustn't forget the plot, must we? This book was extraordinary!!! It deserves all the praise! Well? Wizard was here! Sound interesting? Just think of "when ranger met wizard, magic or skill?" I know I know, it is horrible...but it seems so fun! Will just arrived at Seacliff, his fief...and trouble came. Here came the Skandian! Wasn't there a treaty to protect them? How come the wolfship came? Well? You guess! But I can tell you that Will saved the village and got rid of a terrible problem. Best of all, new friends! (Which means new characters!!! Yeah!!!) When the problem of Skandians was over, Will soon arrived at Redmont to meet Halt and Crowley to get the new mission. And then...Will wasn't a ranger! Don’t worry…he wasn’t deleted by the commander…just for the mission’s need! So, what was the mission about? Just as what was tell above, Will was going to find out the wizard and the mysterious falling of the lord. But thank goodness he was alone, Alyss was sent to help! But she couldn’t possibly be Alyss right? She was now a great courier, and the task would be harder if she used her real name. Quite interesting actually, her disguise. There, Will and Alyss teamed up to found out the secret behind all of the scheme. However, of course things wouldn’t come so swiftly…they met troubles…and Alyss was captured…plus Will was forced to leave the castle, in order to plan more. It was so exciting and…cliffhanger!!! Ahh!!! Well…there are less fighting scenes in this book, more are about the process of finding all the problem and solve the mystery. But it’s sure that the book is still entertaining and the dialogues are always funning! i just love the moment when Will met Halt and Crowley! I laugh every time I re-read it. Wait…re-read? Yeap, I read this entire series for thousands of time, it is just that great.
So…great story, great plots, what about great characters? I now proudly introduce you, the fairest, the smartest, the proud of courier—Alyss!!! Oh I have been waiting for this day! Alyss appeared briefly in the first book, so we knew that she was a wonderful girl, and the last scene of the first book…haha! Then she was gone for the second, third, and the forth book. Now she appeared again! How wonderful!!! As we know very well that Evanlyn was a brave girl, Alyss was well known for her wisdom. Oh! Of course she was also brave, but…her wisdom outstand it. She was personally selected by Lady Pauline as her apprentice, and she performed great at being a courier. In this book, we can know more about her, and amaze by her calm when she faced difficulties. I just love her!!! She inspired me to study diplomacy! (Well of course…my first choice will be architecture…but then diplomacy will come in second!) And one of all those reason that I like her and being inspired…reading her reminds me so much of myself!!! Ahh!!! (Calm down Vivian…) Fine…then we can also talk about the new Skandians!!! Will met Gundar. Gundar was the well…captain? of the wolfship. (Umm…I don’t exactly know what he was title…so…) Like all of the Skandians, he was burly, powerful…and perhaps all those words I used on Erak. Blablabla. But what’s more about him is that he played a very, very important in future, and might be Will’s hope to turn everything right, and he’ll appear in other books as well. (Perhaps I shouldn’t tell you this…that might be a spoiler…if you figure out what I’m saying.) Oh! And he was the Skandian that Will defeat…I assumed you already know, although he was being dismissed by Will, he was really greatful with him. How come? That’s the time you should get this wonderful book and read how Will confronted difficulties with his way and also made new friends. Aren’t you interested with this book after the review? Go and get it!!! Or you’ll definitely regret, especially when now Alyss also joined Will’s world!!! Ahh!!! Go Alyss!!!
