The Ranger’s Apprentice: Halt’s Peril (The Ranger’s Apprentice Series 9)
The Ranger’s Apprentice : Halt’s Peril
By John Flanagan
No!!! How can all of this happen? That was awful!!! (Screaming~) awesome characters shouldn't happen such problem!!! Ahh!!! I need Halt to be fine!!! (Well...that doesn't count as a spoiler...since the title already told you what will happen!) But although all of this isn't good for Halt...I think the author describe all of the scenes well. Dangerous, touching, anxious, none of them were missed. Which make the book even better.
The renegade outlaw group known as the Outsiders has journeyed from kingdom to kingdom, conning the innocent out of their few valuables. Will and Halt, his mentor, are ambushed by the cult's deadly assassins when Halt is pierced by a poisoned arrow. Now Will must travel day and night in search of the one person with the power to cure Halt: Malkallam the Sorcerer.
After the religious group (...I still didn't know what they were called), and the King been assassinate. Halt, Will and Horace set off to finish the rest of them. But during their journey, Halt was injured. What’s worst…the only person who can heal him was the assassin!!!! Ahhh!!!! Wait…how come no other person can heal him? Just find a healer and cure him…isn’t that simple enough? Besides…the summary told us that Malkallam can cure, isn’t it? The Genovesan assassin must be very clever about that. As The King of Clonmel introduced, this mission involve two assassins, and they were belong to one of the most skillful assassin group in the world, the Genovesan. (Of course…not as skillful as ranger…but ranger doesn’t do “assassinate” stuff.) They were all will trained and great at using arrow, cross bow. And they always wore purple…that kind of had the protection, just like the ranger’s coat. So…Halt was accidently being shot in one battle with them…and, fortunately, only one of them was killed. On the other hand, after Malkallam came to help, he, Will, and Horace went on their journey. (What about Halt? Figure out yourselves!) They must track down the religious group, and destroyed them one and for all.
And now…I found that I’ve already told you about the Genovesan above…so… Well…I must give you some information about Malkallam, shall I? As you might know, he had already appeared in The Sorcerer of the North, yes, unfortunately, he was the fearsome wizard…what’s worst…I forgot to introduced him then. According to Malkallam himself, he wasn’t a sorcerer at all. And then why he was called a sorcerer? He was good doing trick, as you can tell when Will first went into his forest, and he was an awesome healer, since he could heal the terrible poison on Halt. Nonetheless, he had a kind heart. Which was the most important thing of all. All his “magic” were merely chemical, yet as we all know, people at that period tend to believe it as magical, mysterious stuff, and told themselves that that might do harm to them. So…that’s how the name of “sorcerer” came.
Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, we don’t get much new characters to introduce this time…and oh! Will would receive a new pet!!! Why? Read it tell the end! He got an adorable cute little thing, and might become his best companion in the future. Are you interesting? (Why I found myself persuading you to read this book because of the pet? That’s strange…) But this book was absolutely great!!! Especially the part that Halt was poison…not that I like that happened…but…ahhh…I know you understand what I mean.
