The Ranger's Apprentice : The Burning Bridge (The Ranger's Apprentice Series 2)
The Ranger’s Apprentice: The Burning Bridge
By John Flanagan
Here comes the second book!!! Yeah!!! I hope that the ranger’s story will never lost! This book is even better than the first one…but what’s worst…it left us with a cliffhanger. Still…the waiting is worth it! You won’t regret reading this book.
Bracing for a final clash with the evil warlord Morgarath, the Rangers rally the kingdom's allies, and Will is chosen, along with his friend Horace, as special envoys to nearby Celtica. But the simple mission soon takes an unsettling turn - the Celticans have disappeared, their town abandoned. The scheming hand of Morgarath, it seems, has been far from idle. He has found a way to bring his legions over the once impassible eastern mountains and is planning to ambush the king's army in a rout. Now with help many miles away, Will and Horace are the only ones standing in the way of the dark lord's plans. They have shown great skill and courage in their training, but how will they fare in the face of true evil?
After succeed in saving Halt from Morgarath’s fellow, Will’s training continue. But the war was coming, and thing must be prepared. Will was sent to help Gilan, and Horace was one of the three people. Three of them set of their journey, but terrible thing was about to be discovered. They met a girl, a blonde girl. She was the servant of the princess Cassandra and was attacked during their journey. Some problems were found during their road, so Will and Horace were left behind while Gilan hurry back to send the message…yet than… In this book, Will would be facing a greater challenge than the last one, and he must solve it by himself this time. If he succeeded, the kingdom could be saved from the horrible army of Morgarath, and if he failed…the kingdom would be destroyed. Such a heavy burden right? He was so young!!! But he was now the official ranger’s apprentice, so he must fulfill every responsibility of ranger without exception.
Let’s talk about Gilan, Evanlyn this time! First, let me add more things about
Horace. As we know from the first book, he was such a bad guy…not evil…but bad.
Than he and Will became friend, now in this book, we can find many of his good qualities. He was a royal friend, a great warrior, and honest. Well…he was like a complete different guy to Will. While Will was think all those “mischievous” things, Horace was train to follow the rule. Will learn to be invisibility and quiet…Horace made huge noises and exercising all the time. Perhaps the same was that they were both asking questions all the time. But their journey wouldn’t be so fun if there wasn’t Horace…however…this was not a good thing to Horace though. Back to Gilan. He was the former apprentice of Halt. What made him different from other rangers is that he used sword. Gilan was the son of a lord, and was originally planned to train as a knight as well…but then Halt appeared. (Once again…) Gilan was attracted by the mysterious ranger and so became one. (And of course, every Halt’s apprentice was proven by a strange way…remember that Will climb up the tower? Gilan was as strange as Will. But…not going to tell you~) Gilan was a nice person, and he was like Will’s brother. What’s more, he was a great ranger too, huge opportunity waiting for him. (You may find out…after many books…right now…go catch up!) Evanlyn, the servant, who was saved by Gilan, Will, and Horace. Although she said she was a servant, she acted strangely when she was facing rangers. Aside from that, she behaved like a spoil child during their way home. Yet she showed her great courage when facing trouble, and even became Will’s best help. Together, they would save the kingdom. (…or maybe not…)
So…that’s for this book! It possesses every great part that is in the first book and becomes more exciting. New troubles, new invaders, new friends all come in one, and only with courage and wise can survive from the problems.
