Top 12 Books of 2016

Image
Top 12 Books of 2016   Why 12 books? Because this list is only to list down my favorite read of the month!!! It might be the latest release, it might be a book long long time ago, it might…never exist at all. (Wait? What?!) Of course I’m just kidding…but, this bookish post is inspired by @biblionatic . One of her gorgeous Bookstagram post…so…at the end of 2016, let’s get start!!! January   Honestly…it had been so long…which book did I read exactly in January? I can’t believe I’m still having my college entrance exam!!! But of course, I still read…a lot…and that’s probably the reason why I am now in Foreign Language and Literature department. Let me check on my blog post…Oh. My. God. I’m so active back then!!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING NOW?????

Heartless

Image
Heartless By Marissa Meyer   Even the blackest heart once beat red.   You know what? I fell nothing by now…empty, heartless, empty, heartless…without feeling… I’m now a body without soul…  I’ve long hear lots of lots of rumors about this vicious book…but I never expect it to be like this. Queen of Heart? Although I never cared about her nor fond of her…now…I don’t know any more. As you can read from my previous post, Fairest , I thought I’ll feel some sympathy toward the evil queen…but in fact, I only understand why she done all those terrible things. But Heartless? I’ve no words for it. It’s now winter, and a bit cold in Taiwan as well…but when I’m reading this book? I feel chilling. A sudden chill rise in my body and I can’t stop shaking. (By the way…I’m in my dorm room…which is supposed to be warm) And as you might question what’s my expression now?    I feel plain, empty, heartless. (Oh!!!! And thank you Marissa Meyer, you just give...

Fairest (The Lunar Chronicles Series 3.5)

Image
Fairest By Marissa Meyer   Oh my god!!! First, my copy of Heartless is finally here!!!!!! And it’s so gorgeous!!!! Especially the hardcover edition and cover!!! It’s one of the best book covers I’ve ever seen! However, I’m not going to talk about Heartless today, not yet…here come—Fairest!!!! It has been a long time since the last time I read The Lunar Chronicles…at least…months ago. (I’ve read so many books since then!!!) And…I know Marissa Meyer is a great author, but somehow, I forget how wonderful she is!!!! My heart twisted through Fairest, and it completely blew my mind away.      Mirror, mirror on the wall,   Who is the fairest of them all?   Pure evil has a name, hides behind a mask of deceit, and uses her "glamour" to gain power. But who is Queen Levana? Long before she crossed paths with Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress in The Lunar Chronicles, Levana lived a very different story—a story that has never been told . . . un...

Stars Above

Image
Stars Above By Marissa Meyer   The Enchantment continues…   I finally got the chance to read it!!! I was so fond of that cover since the minute I saw it and decided to read it. Well…yes, I hadn’t read Cinder back then…just a brief knowledge about this wonderful series. And as it turns out…it’s fantastic!!! I love this book! And I won’t tell you that I turned to Something Old, Something New immediately when I got this book. I definitely didn’t do that. I definitely didn’t turn to the last page of Winter and Stars Above as soon as I got the books. By the way…the ending is perfect. Although I was a bit disappoint with the ending of Winter…but that was all well after I read Stars Above! Ladies and gentlemen…welcome—Stars Above! The novella of The Lunar Chronicles!

Winter (The Lunar Chronicles 4)

Image
Winter By Marissa Meyer   Ahhh!!! Why did I finish this book so early!!! And why did I pick it up so lately???? I need more!!!! No!!! And that ending!!! Ahhh!!! (Screaming everywhere… fangirl mode opening…3…2…1… ) I’m just so glad that I read this series!!! I must have mentioned it thousands time…but it is so great and don’t ever pick up the Chinese edition, no matter how beautiful the covers are!!! I need more Cinder and Scarlet and Cress and Winter!!! Thankfully…I still get Fairest and Stars Above to read…I know, Fairest should read before Winter, so I won’t hate Levana so much…but I haven’t got that book yet! And I’m run out of money…thanks to the extremely expensive Elantris 10 th anniversary… So…let’s wait for May’s book haul! As for Stars Above…I’ve already finish the last story…and I love it!!! I can’t wait to finish this review and devour that book within one day!!! Yeah!!! Now…the retelling of Snow White! And she is definitely not the silly girl we saw in Disney m...

Cress (The Lunar Chronicles 3)

Image
Cress By Marissa Meyer   How come I read this book after it published for so long…? I should have read it immediately as soon as Cress was released!!! (That should all blame the Chinese translation, if it wasn’t the horrible name, I’ll pick it up sooner!!!) It’s so good! I must say it’s one of the best among the entire series for so long! The plots are exciting and the characters are amazing!!! I kept reading the entire book, and managed to finish it as soon as possible. If you love Cinder, you’ll see her in many part of this book. If you love Scarlet, she’ll appear whenever you miss her. If you love our protagonist—Cress, you’ll find how cute she is inside this book. Remember the Lunar who connected Cinder in the first book? Now we can finally meet her!!! (Plus…we can also meet another charming little girl inside this book!) Behold—the retelling of Rapunzel!

Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles 2)

Image
Scarlet By Marissa Meyer   The fates of Cinder and Scarlet collide as a Lunar threat spreads across the Earth…   The first (+100) post! The second book of The Lunar Chronicles!! I’m moving forward to the third book!!! I finish this book with only four time reading: page 20, page 40, page 60, and finished!!!! And now I own five Lunar Chronicles!!!!! (Except Fairest.) Well…no more numbers…I can’t think anything higher than five… And you might guest…”Vivian is about to say how great this book is! Like she said every other book she wrote!!!” Hum…actually…I’m not going to say that. This book…is…horrible!!! Because I can’t give more than five stars!!! Ahhhh!!! (Wait…huh?!) What? Isn’t that the same thing with “perfect” or “excellent” or “fantastic”? Actually…in my dictionary…NOOO!!! I said it is horrible because I can’t give Scarlet six stars or more!!!! It. Is. Horrible.

Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles)

Image
Cinder By Marissa Meyer   Oh My God!! This book is great!!! Well…I’ve heard of this book long time ago, and I read the summary in Chinese version for the first time. When I was reading, I was like…umm…it sounded boring and blablabla. I guess I just wasn’t so fond of fairytale retelling then. (Or perhaps I was mistaken by the horrible summary.) And then few months ago, (or maybe many months…) my friend told me that this was a great book and worth to read. (By the way, she is the writer of Starry Stories—Melody!!! Yeah!!!) So I took a look at the English summary, and since I was already fascinated by fairytale retelling…I think it might worth a try. And now…I’m completely in love with it!!!! I can’t wait to get the entire series once I receive the red envelops!!! (Haha! I love New Year!!!)
